First Thursday and Lintu Art Party!

Tonight is October's First Thursday and who would have known the weather would be so warm? Studio 390 in Northrup King, my space, will be open tonight while I prepare the room for tomorrow's Gallery/Studio party. I really love throwing parties although I'm not the best at them. All of the little treats, decorations, and invites are so fun. I wish I knew all of the secrets for making tasty finger food. I wish I had a knack for knowing what music to play and had a voice loud enough to be heard over it. I do what I can with what I am able to do and the support I'm feeling from everyone makes it all worth it. Thank you to all of those that can join me either tonight or tomorrow! New paint discovery!

After two commissions failed to dry within my usual three-week time frame (much to my and the owner's frustration), I started a search for a faster dry-time solution for oil paint. I found...FastMatte by Gamblin! http://www.gamblincolors.com/artists.grade.oils/fastmatte/index.html

Thank you paint gods for creating this stuff! I mix my normal colors with a bit of FastMatte white and *poof* the piece is dry within the week. The only change is a more matte appearance to the painting but since I coat my work with a glossy lacquer, that is an easy fix!

On another note, the studio/gallery party coming up on Friday, October 7th from 6 - 11pm continues to grow in awesomeness. Two RSVPs today included mini-dogs!

I want to apologize to the big dogs again, only dogs that can be carried are invited because of the building's rules. My 60lbs+ pooches are bummed but I'm just not strong enough to carry them for that long! I suggest that if your dog is 15lbs or less, please bring them to the party!

Invitation to a studio party

Dress to impress at this private studio party. My gallery will be open to guests from 6 - 10 p.m. Artwork will be unveiled, wine from Surdyks served, and you are invited. Door prizes include bottles of wine, private painting lessons, prints and more. If your dog is small enough to be carried, they are welcome too!

Lintu Art wants to thank those that have become part of the studio through investing in artwork and emotional support. There have been times when I've felt so small in the art world and you all have helped me realize I have so much to offer. I hope this party can be a way of expressing how much it has meant to me to have those voices cheering me on!

Summer may be cooling down but Lintu Art is heating things up!

Work is up at Lake Harriet Vet! If you bring your furry friend into Lake Harriet Vet, keep your eyes open for my work. Pieces are up in the front entry, near the scale and in one of the exam rooms. Lake Harriet Vet has been great to my three pups and I have a fellow Ole classmate to rely on for great vet care!

Plans are in the works for the end of season party in mid-October. RSVP for a night of artwork unveilings, wine and appetizers, prizes and mingling. Fellow artists, friends, patrons, pet-business owners, party animals are all welcome. Unfortunately, the four-legged party animals need to stay home as Northrup King is not pet friendly. Good bags for pets available for take-home fun.

Work will soon be up at NE Community Chiropractic. Opening reception date TBD.

Lake Nokomis 2011

Congratulations to the sixteen dogs selected for the 2011 Dogs Around the Lakes: Nokomis print! More information about these featured dogs will be posted soon. I estimate that artwork will be complete by First Thursday in September. Thank you everyone for joining me at Nokomis and for the dogs that are not on the print, you're just as deserving. I wish I had time and talent enough to include you all.
