Dogs Around the Lakes/Rivers 2011 plans are underway! Two dates have been set and more on the way. Check here for updates on how to have your dog represent your area.

Lintu Art is offering a special to create your pet's own card line. For $25 you can have a 4x4 original created and then order stationary for $1 each! The featured pet will have their name on the back of the card. Or you can bring your own idea for a card subject like a family member, a car or a house! To get started contact Sarah

You're invited

Greetings! Its that time of year again. The leaves are in piles, your breath is starting to show, the dogs aren't so excited to walk in the morning frost AND it is time for Lintu Art's end of season party! Join me on Thursday, November 4th from 5-9pm to view prints from 2010-2008 in studio 390 of the Northrup King Building. NKB is a people only building but please bring photos and stories (A dog-friendly treat bag goes home with you!).

If your dog has been part of the Dogs Around the Lakes/Along the Rivers print series, you already have a holiday present of custom art ready for you! Did you know the 6x6 inch portrait of your pooch is only $40 and $2 more gets that custom art shipped to your door? Dogs Along the River: Mississippi unveiling party and off-leash play

Downtown Dogs will be hosting the Dogs Along the River: Mississippi unveiling party from 5-8pm on Saturday, October 23rd. RSVP required via email or Facebook. Well behaved participants, friends, family and dogs are all invited! Food for people and dogs provided.
Downtown Dogs is located at 821 2nd Ave N near International Market Square in Minneapolis. Their facilities will allow dogs attending the party to be playing off-leash. Dogs Along the Cannon and Lakeville Art Festival

Thank you to everyone that made my weekend full of art, dogs and friends! Dogs Along the River: Cannon River 2010 was unveiled at Cannon Valley Vet on Friday night to a big crowd of supporters. Thank you everyone for inviting me into the community to create the artwork! The print will be posted to my website's gallery by this coming weekend, so if you weren't able to attend the party keep checking back for your own personal digital unveiling! Prints are $48 and 50% will be donated to Prairie's Edge. On Friday night, Prairie's Edge received donations for over $400! That money goes to support their on-going programs benefitting animals that need a helping hand.

Lakeville Art Festival was also this weekend. I'm so impressed by the city's support of the arts through the Lakeville Area Arts Center. Another big thank you to those that stopped by my booth!

Lintu Art joins Northeast Neighbors & Business Association

Rott N' Pit Classic

A Rotta Love Plus, the wonderful group that saved my George from Animal Control, is looking for golfers to join them for Rott N' Pit Classic on September 20th. First Thursday in August

Visit Lintu Art (studio 390) and the rest of the Northrup King Building's artists on Thursday, August 5th from 5-9pm. This evening will be the second unveiling of the Lake Calhoun 2010 print and there will be free roasted sweet corn on NKB's front lawn! Stop by to see what I've been up to this summer. Portraits, dog-inspired artwork, greetings cards and work from visiting artists on display! (Note: NKB is people friendly but unfortunately, not dog-friendly)

Bicycle Pannier for a crazy dog lady

I was fortunate to meet a creative fabric artist at Art A Whirl and we did something I love to do, we swapped our talents and both came away with fun art pieces! Mine is a bit more 'functional' in the form of a bicycle pannier. With two fabrics to represent my dog obsession, this piece speaks to me through my love for biking and dogs. The piece I swapped for the pannier was a portrait of her two pugs and boston terrier. I was able to meet these three stout and snorty pups and fell in love.

Dogs Along the Mississippi River

A celebration and gathering of downtown Minneapolis dogs will take place Sunday, August 29th, 2010! Lintu Art is bringing the annual print series Dogs Around the Lakes to downtown Minneapolis as Dogs Along the River. This event celebrates our four-legged friends, the summer weather and Minnesota gathering places.
Lintu Art will be teaming up with Secondhand Hounds, Dog Grounds, Toast Wine Bar and Downtown Dogs to raise funds, have fun and mingle. Participation is free but proceeds of sales will benefit rescues and dog-friendly spaces!

Finland bound

Today I leave for Finland. In my memories, Finland is heavenly. Its like northern Minnesota but with many more wild berries, more saunas and less black flies. I hope to bring back parts of my experience and borrow the Finnish style in my artwork. During a wonderfully busy summer, it will be difficult to leave projects behind, but I think this trip will be a refreshing time to enjoy my sketch book's white pages.

Before I left, I made a trip to Northfield to begin spreading the word about Dogs Along the Cannon River. What a fun experience to visit the old college town again and to stop into almost every store. I look forward to meeting the dogs that will be representing Rice County and the surrounding area.

Lake Calhoun print unveiling

The 2010 Lake Calhoun print will be unveiled on the patio of the Tin Fish Restaurant. If that space is too crowded (they do not take reservations) we will move the unveiling to the area where the photos were taken, just south of the Tin Fish along the walking path. Bring your dog, your friends and your dog's friends to be the first to see the print!

In case of rain or extreme weather, the print will be unveiled at Lintu Art's studio on Thursday, August 5th at 6pm. Watch for an email, a blog or Facebook announcement if the weather is uncertain. Please note that the Northrup King Building is a people only space.

Dogs Around the Lakes: Calhoun 2010

A big thank you to everyone that came to Lake Calhoun last Sunday! I know that when we sat down at Lucia's I was sunburned, happy and ready for some refreshment! The warm weather called for a shorter group walk then originally planned but I heard many comments about the gathering of black dogs. Pictures will be posted very soon. It is taking longer then expected to process over one thousand pictures. A link will be sent when they are up and the selected sixteen dogs will also be announced. Thank you for your patience!

Tuesday, June 29th will be the unveiling for the Dogs Around the Lakes: Lake Harriet print! I'll have the artwork and treats at 6pm just north of the Lake Harriet band shell (look for the balloons!). Bring family, friends and your camera!

Dogs Around the Lakes: Lake Calhoun today

Good morning! If you'd like to join us for Dogs Around the Lakes: Lake Calhoun featuring black dogs, please give my cell a call to reserve the few open 10-minute photo sessions (612-986-0769) or join us for the group walk and Lucia's Wine Bar mingle!

Open photo sessions: 10:40am, 11am, 11:50am, 12:10pm and 2:40pm. Photos take place just south of Tin Fish Restaurant along the walking path.

Group walk starts at 3pm just south of the Tin Fish along Calhoun's walking path.

Mingle at Lucia's Wine Bar and Doggie Bar begins at 4:30pm.

Dogs Around the Lakes: Calhoun featuring black dogs!

This Sunday, Lake Calhoun will be the place to be with your black dog! Lintu Art is teaming up with Start Seeing Black Dogs to help spread the word about low adoption rates for black dogs by featuring black dogs in this Dogs Around the Lakes print. The day long event will feature free 10-minute photo sessions for dogs to become candidates for the print, a group walk to show off our dogs, and a mingle at Lucia's Wine Bar in Uptown!

Open photo sessions are still available in the morning and the group walk and mingle are open to dogs of all shapes, colors, and sizes.

Dogs Around the Lakes: Lake Harriet May 22nd

Art A Whirl and Wags and Whiskers event

Last night was the opening night for Art A Whirl and NE Minneapolis was alive with artists, art patrons, students, kids, and visitors. I loved being able to meet new people and seeing friends. A quick shout out to Jan who just adopted Lulu and to Kiri who is going to try the raw food diet with her August puppy! Upcoming events for Lintu Art

This summer is going to be a fun and eventful one! My husband and I are off to Finland for our honeymoon and there are so many events going on involving dogs, their people and art!

For starters, I'd like to introduce you to a new style for my artwork. They are small drawings using ink and colored pencil. Their size and bright colors make them perfect for a smile.




Dogs Around the Lakes events for Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun are starting to fill up fast! If you'd like to have your dog become a candidate for the 2010 prints, send me an email and I'll let you know what time slots are open for a FREE ten minute photo session. You are always welcome to join in on the group walk regardless of having a photo session time. Lake Harriet is May 22nd and Lake Calhoun is June 22nd.


I've just been invited to show my artwork at the Great North Oaks Gathering on June 5th! I'll be creating a Dogs of North Oaks print from pictures taken that day. If you're a resident of North Oaks, bring your dog to the fair and see me for a photo op!

I'll be traveling to my old college town of Northfield, MN for Dogs Along the Cannon River. Proceeds will be going to Prairie's Edge Humane Society in Rice county. If you live in the area or have adopted/volunteered with Prairie's Edge (formerly Rice County Humane Society), this will be a fun and exciting way to cheer on and give back to the work of Prairie's Edge!
Free Event! If you do choose to purchase prints, portraits etc. proceeds will be donated to Prairie's Edge.

Lucky Star anniversary print and Wags and Whiskers donation

Two fun projects are coming together! Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue asked me to create their anniversary print (see above portraits to soon become part of the print!).

And Wags and Whiskers, a local rescue group, is having a benefit event May 15th at Champps in Minnetonka. I'm donating four 'pop marquetry' style portraits to their event! One of the subjects for this project has pretty obvious scars from a not so happy life before being rescued. I hope by donating these portraits Wags and Whiskers can help other dogs or cats that are not in a good place and help them find a happy home.

Deviant Art: Dispelling Myths

The second annual A Rotta Love art show is coming together! We are so excited to have new artists participate and also to have sponsors for the event.

Over twenty artists will be displaying work in photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, printmaking and jewelry. We will also have youth drawings from Urban Arts and works by disabled adults from Achieve Services. Artwork will focus on the 'deviant' dog breeds such as pit bulls and rottweilers. Our goals are to highlight positive aspects of the breeds while also addressing the negative stereotypes and abuse many of these dogs face.

Photo shoot with Jade

Jade, the winner of the Woofstock dog trick contest, and her person met me for a winter photo shoot this weekend. Jade had a blast running through the snow! Her person did want a classic look for the portrait inspiration photograph, so after running around for a good while, Jade sat for a classic pose. Thank you Jade!
