Portraits for Underdog Rescue and Dogs Around the Lakes

I am beginning a body of work to benefit Underdog Rescue of Minnesota and the work will be displayed in my studio during Art A Whirl. If you'd enjoy the opportunity to donate to this great organization AND receive display ready art with a great story then stop by my studio, Northrup King Building studio 390, during Art A Whirl (May 15-May17th). Check out www.NEMAA.org for more information about this huge art event!

Dogs Around the Lakes photographers will be coming to Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun in the next few months. If your dog is photographed and selected for the poster they will appear on a limited edition poster created by Lintu Art. The Lake Harriet 2008 poster has sold out! Look for the Dogs Around the Lakes T-Shirt worn by the photographer on the walking paths of the lakes.
Lake Harriet: Saturday, April 18th, 9am -1pm
Lake Calhoun: Sunday, May 3rd, 9am- 1 pm

Dogs Around the Lakes 2009 Photo Day Announced

Dogs Around the Lakes is an annual poster celebrating our dog friends and beautiful summer weather. To create each poster, I visit the walking path around the chain of lakes and take photographs of dog candidates. I ask for their people's email address in order to inform them if their dog has been selected for the poster.

This year another lake will be added to the annual poster series. Lake Calhoun will have its first poster this year and Lake Harriet will celebrate its second year.

I will be at Lake Harriet April 18th from 9am-1pm near the band shell.
I will be at Lake Calhoun May 3nd from 9am-1pm near the Calhoun Pavilion.

Rain and bad weather will postpone the photo shoot but I will post the rescheduled days in my blog and around on the lake paths.

Be ready to shine pups! Sixteen dogs will be selected from each lake poster. Look for the photographer with the Dogs Around the Lakes shirt!

Wonderful Dog Rescue Groups

I've had the privilege to work with many wonderful dog rescue groups in Minnesota.

A Rotta Love Plus (www.arottalove.org) is having a benefit show hosted by Lintu Art (me!) on Saturday March 28th from 4-9pm at the Northrup King Building's third floor gallery (www.northrupkingbuilding.com). The folks from A Rotta Love Plus are passionate, organized, educated and enthusiastic about their mission. There has been great interest from many artists in the area to participate in the show and donate proceeds to A Rotta Love Plus. I'm so excited for this event and I look forward to meeting many people involved in rescuing animals.

Underdog Rescue (www.underdogrescuemn.com) will be receiving proceeds from sales of select pieces of my work during Art A Whirl. Their Saturday adoption event at Urban Animal in Uptown is where my inspiration was rekindled to help pets. I feel in love with a dog named Tex during one of their events but couldn't adopt him because my landlord had a no tolerance rule for bully breeds. Tex inspired me to explore bully breed issues, create art using these breeds as a catalyst for conversation and to raise funds for their rescue and rehoming. Visit my studio during Art A Whirl (May 15-17) to see the work for Underdog Rescue.

Pet Haven (www.pethavenmn.org) is a newer group to me but I look forward to working with them very soon!

The Sanctuary for Animals (www.thesanctuaryforanimals.com) is hosting their Second Annual Silent Auction and Benefit Dinner on July 19th in Waconia, MN. I will be donating a pet portrait with all proceeds going to fund their efforts. A great night and dinner are only $20!
